How did you come up with this idea?

Sitting at home during the COVID-19 Pandemic, our founder, Micah Hart, sought a way to bring people together. He realized that people were isolated from their loved ones, friends, and co-workers, and were looking for a way to stay connected. This show was his way creating a feeling of connection — by playing off an authentic truth about the Jewish people: we are all a part of a larger community. Every episode is full of connections and reconnections, often in surprising and unexpected ways. Who Knows One? is our way of bringing joy into people’s homes during these unprecedented times.

How does the game work?

Contestants are given the name of a random Jewish person they don’t know (aka, The Chosen One), and they race to be the first to get that person onto the zoom call. The catch? They cannot use social media of any kind to find them; they can only reach out to their network of friends, colleagues, and family, and their networks of friends, colleagues and family, until the Chosen One has been found.

When and where can I watch Who Knows One?

Episodes are streamed live every Wednesday and every Saturday at 9 pm ET on the Who Knows One? Facebook page. Older episodes are also archived here.

What is Jewish Geography?

Jewish Geography is a phenomenon in the Jewish community wherein two people meeting for the first time immediately try to establish whether they know anyone in common. Usual paths include finding out where someone grew up, where they went to college, if they went to summer camp, and the names of their extended family members. (This is, of course, common in other communities as well; we’re just not aware of a specific term associated with the practice.)

This sounds great! How can I support the show?

Is this game only for Jews?

While the game show was born out of the notion that all Jews know someone who knows someone, we realize this concept is not unique to the Jewish community, and everyone enjoys a sense of belonging to a larger collective. Our game show displays the interconnectedness of all communities and shows the importance of the bonds people form through work, school, careers, and more.
